Bondada Engineering wins ₹1,338 crore NTPC solar-storage contract

For Bondada, the award adds directly to its order book. The company now holds solar EPC orders totaling about 5.5 GWp and BESS orders of roughly 1.1 GWh, according to the release. That pipeline gives visibility into revenue over the next 18 months and beyond, assuming execution stays on schedule.

The Sitapur site is in a solar-rich region of Uttar Pradesh, where the state has been pushing renewable capacity additions. The combination of solar and battery storage is becoming more common in Indian utility tenders, as developers and off-takers look for round-the-clock renewable supply rather than intermittent generation alone.

Bondada did not disclose the margin profile of the contract or any financing details. The company's stock has been volatile in recent months, tracking the broader infrastructure and renewable EPC space. Order wins of this size typically provide a near-term sentiment boost, though the real test is execution against the 18-month timeline.

NTPC REL, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC, has been scaling its renewable portfolio aggressively, with a target of 60 GW by 2032. The Sitapur project is one of several solar-plus-storage tenders the company has floated this year.
