Bodycare's Derby Studio Store opens Aug 22 with a free Creator Studio. The retailer plans 15 such stores by 2026 and 150 UK locations in five years.
Bodycare is back in Derby this weekend. The health and beauty retailer opens its second next-generation Studio Store at the Derbion shopping centre on Saturday, 22 August. The first of the new format debuted in Sheffield.
The Derby opening is part of a wider national expansion. Bodycare has set a target of 15 Studio Stores by the end of 2026 and more than 150 locations across the UK over the next five years.
The new concept combines Bodycare's traditional value-led range with an expanded selection of skincare, cosmetics, fragrance and wellness products. The Derbion store will also carry K-Beauty lines, a professional piercing studio, Technic cosmetics and a free-to-use Creator Studio.
That content creation space is available to local creators, charities and community groups. It offers professional facilities to produce and share content about Derby and its communities, according to the company.
Derbion managing director Beth McDonald said the centre was "hugely excited" to welcome Bodycare back with the new concept. She called the Creator Studio a "brilliant addition" likely to be popular with the local community. McDonald added that Bodycare was the latest in a string of new retailers to join Derbion this year, with more announcements expected.
Bodycare chief executive Charles Denton said Derby's history as a manufacturing and creativity hub made it a natural fit for the format. "Derby is known across centuries for giving people the resources and equipment to make something valuable. That is what we are doing with the Creator Studio," he said. He described it as a professional broadcast studio inside a shop, free to anyone in Derby who wants to use it.
Denton said the studios sit at the heart of the Studio Store concept, which aims to turn shops into destinations for product discovery and live content. He added that the format combines retail with live content, creator experiences and expert-led brand events. The retailer is also targeting partnerships with 10,000 creators across the UK before Christmas.
The Derby store will launch with an opening-day showcase on Saturday.
