BMW India chief Thomas Dose told business leaders incremental gains are not enough. Companies must learn to turn the ship around, he said at MMA's 70th AGM.
Thomas Dose, Managing Director of BMW Group Plant Chennai, told a gathering of business leaders on Friday that incremental improvement is no longer sufficient in the current operating environment. Companies need to learn how to turn the ship around, he said.
The best skill for that is simplicity, Dose said at the Platinum Jubilee Annual General Meeting of the Madras Management Association (MMA) in Chennai. Do not overcomplicate the task, he added. He also advised first-generation business owners to find ways to pass the founder's spirit to the next generation.
The event marked 70 years of MMA's work in management education, leadership development, and industry engagement. The association launched several initiatives, including the Platinum Jubilee MMA Awards for Managerial Excellence, a special issue of its journal Business Mandate, Volume 3 of Turning Points: Management Lessons from Legends, a coffee table book, and a Platinum Jubilee logo.
Four companies received the 24th MMA Awards for Managerial Excellence 2026: ELGI Equipments Ltd, Apollo Hospitals, Indus Life Sciences Private Ltd, and SSN College of Engineering. The evening also honoured all past presidents of MMA, drawing a lineup of senior figures from Tamil Nadu's business ecosystem.
The Hindu Group and businessline are media partners for the awards.
