Blue Jay Gold Corp. (TSXV: JAY) nominated Ashley Kates to its board of directors for the annual general meeting scheduled Oct. 15. The nomination will be detailed in the management information circular expected on Sedar+ in early September.
"We're pleased to welcome Ashley's nomination to the board," said Geordie Mark, CEO of Blue Jay Gold. "Ashley has held several senior roles across the mining industry over her career. That kind of breadth, seeing a business from the finance, capital markets and governance sides, is exactly the kind of experience that helps a company grow with confidence. Ashley raises the bar for our board, and we couldn't be happier to have her join us. In the interim, Ashley will hold the role of special advisor to the board."
Kates is a finance executive with more than 15 years of experience in the mining industry. She currently serves as CFO of Oceanic Iron Ore Corp. Her background includes public company financial reporting and corporate governance. Earlier in her career she worked at Atlantic Gold Corporation through its acquisition by St. Barbara Ltd. in 2019 for about $800 million. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and began at Ernst & Young, holding a commerce degree from the University of British Columbia.
Subject to TSXV acceptance and the company's equity plan, Blue Jay granted 1,700,000 stock options on Aug. 21 at an exercise price of $0.78, valid for five years. The options vest in four equal instalments every six months over two years. The company also granted 80,000 deferred share units to Kates in connection with her upcoming board appointment.
Blue Jay Gold is a Canadian gold exploration company focused on the Steller Gold Project in southern Yukon, a past-producing mine with exploration upside. The company also holds projects in Ontario and plans to advance modern exploration programs targeting resource growth and new discoveries.
