Bits of Gold, Israel's largest crypto broker, said a data breach exposed personal data of 200,000 customers through a third-party system. Customer funds and assets remain secure.
Bits of Gold, Israel’s largest crypto broker, said hackers broke into a third‑party analytics system and stole personal information from roughly 200,000 customers. The company stressed that its own cryptocurrency holdings and customer funds were not touched.
The compromised data may include names, national ID numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, bank account details and public wallet addresses. Bits of Gold said it cut off the affected system from its information sources as soon as it detected the breach. Private keys, passwords, CVV codes, scanned ID documents and digital assets were not exposed, the company added.
An initial investigation indicates the incident may be part of a broader cyberattack that hit multiple companies around the same time, Bits of Gold said. The broker has brought in a specialist cybersecurity firm to lead the probe.
A breach of customer records does not automatically mean blockchain assets are at risk, Bits of Gold said. When private keys and wallet credentials stay protected, attackers cannot move cryptocurrency even if personal data is stolen.
Bits of Gold was founded in 2013 and became the first active crypto company in Israel to receive a permanent financial services provider license, number 56716. It also holds SOC 2 Type 2 certification.
The disclosure follows other recent incidents in the crypto space. SafePal reported that roughly 39,798 customers had personal information exposed through a compromised order‑tracking system. Trezor disclosed a breach affecting 13,689 users through a logistics partner. Neither incident involved private keys or seed phrases.
