AtkinsRéalis nuclear revenue hit $671.2M in Q2, up 18.3%. The union representing its engineers says collective agreements expiring at year-end must recognize the workforce behind the growth.
AtkinsRéalis reported its nuclear segment brought in $671.2 million in revenue for the second quarter, up 18.3 percent from a year earlier. Nuclear Segment Adjusted EBIT rose 20.8 percent to $77.0 million. The company lifted its full-year 2025 Nuclear revenue forecast to about $2.7 billion, from a prior target of roughly $2.5 billion.
The numbers landed alongside a push from the union representing the engineers and associates who design the projects. The Society of Professional Engineers and Associates (SPEA) said the growth reflects the value of the professionals doing the work, and that the company's collective agreements with Candu Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of AtkinsRéalis, are set to expire at the end of 2025.
"These results are not created by numbers alone–they are created by people," SPEA President Mark Chudak said in a statement. "Every engineering solution, every safety analysis, every design review and every project milestone depend on the expertise of our members who do this work every day."
SPEA said the company's continued growth reinforces the need for fair collective agreements that recognize the contribution of the employees responsible for delivering it. "A fair collective agreement recognizes the value of the people whose expertise generates that growth," Chudak said. "Investing in the employees who create it is essential to sustaining it."
The results come after the federal government announced a nuclear strategy in June that targets building up to 10 new large-scale reactors and establishing at least four new international markets for Canadian reactor technology by 2040.
"Canada developed CANDU technology, and Canadians have built one of the world's most respected nuclear engineering workforces," Chudak said. "As demand for our expertise grows around the world, the priority must be to keep these highly skilled jobs, this knowledge and these opportunities in Canada."
The union represents scientists, engineers, technologists, tradespeople, and professional and administrative employees at Candu Energy. It is affiliated with Unifor, Canada's largest private-sector union.
