Asda Takes Loyalty Battle to the Pump with 5p Off Fuel

Asda expanded its Rewards app into fuel for the first time. Customers who spend at least £40 in a single in-store transaction before July 31 receive a coupon offering 5p off every litre of fuel, the company said. The voucher is added automatically to the app.

The move targets Tesco's Clubcard fuel discounts, the dominant loyalty programme in UK grocery. Fuel is a high-frequency category for supermarkets competing for repeat traffic. Asda's offer rewards larger basket sizes without requiring a separate sign-up.

The 5p per litre discount compares with typical Clubcard prices that take 5p to 10p off the standard supermarket rate. The promotion runs through the end of July.
