Arch Insurance NA launches a US transactional liability team led by William Carson, formerly of Everest Group. The unit will offer R&W and Tax coverage products.
Arch Insurance NA has launched a new US-based transactional liability team, the company said Tuesday. The unit will start with Representations & Warranties insurance and Tax coverage products.
William Carson will lead the group as Senior Vice President, Transactional Risk. He reports to Chris Christon, Senior Vice President, Executive Assurance. Carson joins Arch from Everest Group, where he spent nearly eight years, most recently as Head of Transactional Risk, North America.
Anne Hardner, Executive Vice President, Executive Assurance at Arch Insurance, said the company has been in the transactional risk market for more than 15 years through MGA and MGU partners across North America, Bermuda and the United Kingdom. “Our direct U.S. platform complements our existing distribution model and reflects Arch’s broader commitment to the transactional risk marketplace,” she said in a statement. “This multi-channel approach allows us to expand our capabilities, strengthen our market presence and better serve brokers and clients.”
Christon said the company values its partnership network and remains committed to supporting MGA and MGU partners long-term. “Will and his team bring exceptional market expertise, deep broker and legal relationships and a proven track record in transactional risk underwriting,” he said. “Their experience will help accelerate our growth while maintaining the disciplined approach that defines Arch.”
Carson said transactional risk insurance has become important in today’s M&A landscape. “Clients, brokers and their legal advisors want more than competitive pricing,” he said. “They want an underwriting partner that can move quickly, understand transaction complexity and stand behind its commitments when claims arise. Our goal is to deliver a high-quality experience across the transaction lifecycle while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk selection and portfolio management.”
The new team gives Arch a direct footprint in the US transactional risk market after years of relying on third-party partners. The move follows a period of steady M&A activity. Competitors such as Everest and others have also been building their teams.
Arch Capital Group, the parent company of Arch Insurance, carries a Moderate Alpha Score of 64 on AlphaScala. Everest Group, Carson’s former employer, scores 59, also Moderate. Investors can view profiles for ACGL and EG.
Carson’s hire signals that Arch is willing to poach talent from a direct rival to build its own in-house capacity. The company said the direct platform will work alongside existing MGA and MGU relationships rather than replace them.
