ANZ's focus on resilience and risk control suggests the bank is also preparing for tighter regulatory demands. Competitors such as Commonwealth Bank and Westpac are pursuing similar transformations, making the delivery timeline a key competitive factor.

Patra said he now has the clarity to provide direction to the organisation. The nine priorities are a statement of intent. The real test will be how many of them move from slides to systems within the next two years.
