Anupam Rasayan commercialized ETFA via continuous flow chemistry, a global first. The process boosts safety and yield for a key pharmaceutical intermediate.
Anupam Rasayan India Ltd said it became the first company globally to commercialize production of ethyl trifluoroacetate using continuous flow chemistry. The company described the method as safer and more efficient than traditional batch processes.
ETFA is a reagent used to introduce trifluoromethyl groups into organic molecules. It appears in the synthesis of several active pharmaceutical ingredients and crop protection compounds. The company's announcement did not disclose production volumes or the investment behind the new process.
In continuous flow chemistry, reactants flow through a tubular reactor, allowing precise control of temperature and reaction time. For ETFA, which involves handling reactive fluorinating agents, the approach reduces the risk of exothermic runaway, Anupam Rasayan said. The company added that the process also cuts waste and improves yield consistency.
The company did not provide a timeline for deliveries from the new process.
