Altillion, a Houston-based company focused on extracting minerals from brine, closed a $5 million seed round led by EIC Rose Rock and Flathead Forge.
The funding will go toward commercializing the company's IRIS and ALIX technologies, which pull valuable minerals from oilfield produced water, geothermal brines, and salars. The company describes itself as a technology innovator in brine mineral extraction, a space that has drawn growing interest as industries look for domestic sources of lithium, potassium, and other minerals used in batteries and fertilizers.
The round comes as the U.S. pushes to build out its critical-minerals supply chain, with brine extraction offering a potential alternative to traditional hard-rock mining or evaporation ponds. Altillion's approach targets waste streams from existing oil and gas operations, which could lower the environmental footprint compared to greenfield mining projects.
EIC Rose Rock and Flathead Forge led the investment. The company did not disclose valuation or revenue figures. Altillion plans to use the capital to scale its pilot operations and move toward commercial deployment.
