Almar will build a second phase at Zuluf for Aramco, adding 308,000 m3/day under a BOOT concession through 2050, with total capacity rising to 493,000 m3/day.
Almar Water Solutions will build a second phase at the Zuluf plant for Aramco, adding 308,000 m³/day of capacity under a build-own-operate-transfer concession that runs through 2050.
The project carries a total investment of $940 million, Almar said in a statement. The expansion will be delivered through the same special purpose vehicle used for the first phase, a joint venture between Almar and Al Jomaih Energy & Water Company.
Once the second phase comes online, total treatment capacity at Zuluf will reach 493,000 m³/day. The first phase started operations in 2023 with 185,000 m³/day of capacity. Both facilities produce treated water for injection into oil reservoirs.
"This award reflects the strength of our partnership with Aramco and the long-term trust placed in Almar," Carlos Cosín, chief executive officer of Almar, said in the statement.
Almar will handle development, financing, operation and technical management of the new facility. Financial close is subject to customary conditions, the company said.
