Allianz Partners appoints Carsten Staat as regional MD for APAC & MEA. He brings a track record of growth from the German market to a region Fuest calls 'most dynamic.'
Allianz Partners appointed Carsten Staat as regional managing director for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, effective Aug. 1. He will report to Chief Markets Officer Jacob Fuest.
Staat spent the past four years as managing director for Allianz Partners in Germany, where he pushed growth, lifted customer scores and locked in partnerships the company said strengthened its market position. He joined the Allianz Group in 2001 and has held a variety of leadership roles since.
He replaces Vinay Surana, who led the APAC and MEA region for six years. Surana will stay on as senior advisor to CEO Tomas Kunzmann through the end of 2026.
Fuest called Asia Pacific one of Allianz Partners' most dynamic growth regions. "The opportunities across this diverse market – from travel and student health to mobility and roadside assistance – are immense, and we are committed to capturing them," he said. Fuest cited Staat's ability to build teams and create lasting partnerships as key reasons for the appointment.
Allianz Partners, a B2B2C insurance and assistance unit, operates in 73 markets with about 22,200 employees. It handles travel, international health and life insurance, mobility and roadside services. Products are sold through intermediaries, embedded in partner businesses or directly under the Allianz brand.
The appointment signals a continued push into APAC and MEA, regions where Allianz Partners has been expanding travel and health offerings. Staat's record of growth in Germany will be tested against a more fragmented and fast-growing set of markets. Surana's advisory role ensures some leadership continuity through year-end.
