1,050 Climbing Ropes Recalled Over Fall Risk After Splice Failures

More than 1,000 climbing ropes are being recalled after reports of splice failures that could cause falls, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
Wichard Groupe North America recalled about 1,050 Courant Spliced Kalimba Climbing Ropes. The ropes are used for tree climbing and pruning, often by arborists.
The recall covers ropes in 45m and 50m lengths, plus a 60m version. Colors include lollipop and bubblegum. Also included are any additional Kalimba ropes spliced under Courant protocols before June 15.
