Przemysław Kral, the director of cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto, has been charged with involvement in a large-scale fraud and is cooperating with Polish prosecutors as part of a plea deal.
Polish outlet Onet reported that Kral is seeking a reduced sentence by offering testimony that could include details about the platform's financing of right-wing politicians. Prosecutors estimate client losses at a minimum of 2.4 billion Polish złotys, or roughly $650 million.
Investigators allege Zondacrypto used only a fraction of user deposits to buy cryptocurrencies, with the rest moved to private accounts controlled by executives. Onet said Kral held informal discussions with prosecutors in Poland, Sicily and Gulf countries over six months, testing the terms of a potential agreement.
