Zerion has connected its API to AgentCash, a middleware toolkit that lets AI agents pay for data access using stablecoins, the company said. The setup charges roughly $0.01 in USDC per API call, meaning an agent can pull wallet balances and transaction histories across more than 8,000 protocols on 38+ blockchains without traditional API keys or subscription tiers.

The integration uses two payment rails: the x402 protocol on Base and the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) settling on Tempo. Both eliminate the signup and key-generation process typical of conventional data services. When an AI agent requests data, the server returns an HTTP 402 status code, the rarely used "Payment Required" response, and the agent's wallet sends USDC to complete the transaction.

AgentCash launched in early July 2026 as a command-line toolkit for machine-to-machine commerce. It started with about 250 premium APIs and now supports more than 3,200, with compatibility across over 500 applications including Coinbase Wallet.

Zerion added x402 support in mid-March 2026, followed by MPP integration in late April. AgentCash then tied both into a single autonomous toolkit. At roughly $0.01 per call, an AI agent running a portfolio monitoring service that checks positions every few minutes would spend a few dollars per day, compared with thousands of dollars monthly for traditional financial data terminal subscriptions.
