Waste Connections said it has renewed its normal course issuer bid, authorizing the repurchase of up to 12.6 million common shares over the next 12 months. That represents about 5% of the 251.6 million shares outstanding as of July 31.
The Toronto-listed waste services company will buy shares on the TSX, NYSE, NYSE Texas and alternative Canadian trading systems at prevailing market prices. Daily purchases on the TSX are capped at 95,113 shares, or 25% of the average daily trading volume of 380,453 shares over the six months through July 31. Block trades exceeding that limit are allowed once a week.
The renewed NCIB runs from Aug. 12, 2026 to Aug. 11, 2027. Any shares bought will be cancelled. Management said decisions will depend on market conditions, share price and acquisition opportunities.
Under the prior NCIB, which expires Aug. 11, Waste Connections had bought 6.1 million shares through the NYSE as of Aug. 6. That program had authorized up to 12.9 million shares.
Waste Connections serves about nine million residential, commercial and industrial customers across 46 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces. It also handles non-hazardous oilfield waste treatment and intermodal cargo services in the Pacific Northwest.
