UK June Retail Sales Jump 1.0%, Beating -0.3% Forecast

UK retail sales rose 1.0% in June from the prior month, far above the -0.3% drop economists had expected, the Office for National Statistics said. The gain was the largest since March.

Non-store retailing, which covers online and mail-order, surged 4.4% on the month. Non-food store sales climbed 1.2%. Retailers said sales promotions and the warm weather boosted demand for outdoor products, fans, clothing, and sports merchandise.

Computer and telecoms retailers also reported higher sales, supported by continued demand for products released in March 2026, retailers said.
