Talisman Mining (ASX:TLM) reported shallow gold intercepts across 800m of strike at Sheepyard, with a deeper IP anomaly untested. Next phase aims to extend the mineralized system and test the chargeability target at depth.
Talisman Mining (ASX:TLM) is planning another round of aircore and reverse-circulation drilling after a recently completed program at the Sheepyard prospect continued to return shallow gold intercepts across an unconstrained 800 meters of strike.
The company finished 1,657 meters of aircore drilling at the prospect, part of the Walkers Hill gold project in New South Wales. Results included 9 meters at 0.94 grams per ton from 42 meters, 15 meters at 0.55 g/t from 3 meters, 12 meters at 0.68 g/t from 21 meters, and 12 meters at 0.47 g/t from 6 meters in separate holes.
Sheepyard sits at the southern end of a roughly 5.5-kilometer soil geochemical anomaly that defines the broader Walkers Hill project. Talisman has run two lines of induced polarization surveying, five RC holes, and two aircore programs at the target so far. The IP survey identified a chargeability anomaly at depth that has not been drilled.
CEO Todd Ross said the next phase of drilling will push the mineralized footprint further and test the deeper anomaly. “These results continue to build the case for Sheepyard as a potentially large-scale gold system,” Ross said. “We’re seeing consistent, shallow gold mineralisation across an unconstrained 800m of strike and, importantly, these intersections sit on the margins of an IP chargeability anomaly that has yet to be tested by drilling.”
The deeper RC holes are designed to hit what Ross called the potential core of the system, which could host higher-grade material. The company also plans follow-up aircore drilling to extend the strike length beyond the current 800 meters.
Walkers Hill covers a consolidated land package extending about 90 kilometers of strike in the Lachlan Fold Belt, a region that hosts several gold deposits. Talisman has systematically worked the property through surface geochemistry, geophysics, and the two drilling campaigns.
Sheepyard is the most advanced target within the project. The IP anomaly sits at depth beneath the shallow aircore intercepts, and the company sees it as a priority for the next program. Ross said the upcoming work will be a key part of evaluating the broader 5.5-kilometer anomaly.
No date has been set for the next drilling phase. Talisman will release a timetable once field programs are scheduled. The company is funded for the work from existing cash, Ross said, without giving a specific budget.
