Sinopec Inks Seismic Deal for Iraq's Addan Block

Sinopec signed a contract with Iraq's Oil Exploration Company on Thursday to run a 2D seismic survey over the Addan block in Muthanna province, the Oil Ministry said. Oil Minister Basim Muhammad Khudhair attended the signing.

The survey covers the Addan 2D programme. No further details on the contract's value or timeline were disclosed.

Iraq is working to expand exploration data across its southern and western provinces. The Oil Ministry has pushed for faster surveying of underexplored blocks to support future licensing rounds. Sinopec has operated in Iraq for years, holding stakes in the Halfaya field and other projects.

The Addan survey is part of Iraq's broader push to bring more acreage under contract before the next bid round, ministry officials have said.
