PointsKash secured up to $100M from Hawk Capital Advisors after acquiring 2,100 crypto kiosks from bankrupt Bitcoin Depot. The milestone-based deal funds kiosk rollout and mobile payments through April 2026.
PointsKash has locked down a strategic capital commitment of up to $100 million from Hawk Capital Advisors to fund the national rollout of its crypto ATM network and digital payment platforms, the company said Wednesday.
The commitment arrives two weeks after PointsKash acquired more than 2,100 cryptocurrency kiosks out of the Bitcoin Depot bankruptcy, a deal announced Aug. 6. Bitcoin Depot, the world's largest operator of crypto ATMs, shut down in May and began selling its assets, PYMNTS reported.
“We believe the financial industry is entering a period of profound change as traditional banking, digital payments, loyalty value and digital currency increasingly converge,” PointsKash CEO Michael Herron said in the release. “PointsKash is building a bridge between those worlds through a combination of physical access points, mobile technology and merchant distribution.”
The capital plan is milestone-based. A first phase provides up to $35 million through Oct. 30 to support immediate commercialization priorities. A second phase could add up to $65 million from February through April 30, contingent on PointsKash hitting agreed operating and deployment milestones and satisfying customary closing conditions, the company said.
“The combination of owned infrastructure, enterprise merchant access, an integrated physical and mobile platform, and management’s broader vision for financial commerce creates the potential for a significant national opportunity,” Michael Frantz of Hawk Capital Advisors said.
PointsKash is building physical kiosks under the KashPoint Pro, KashPoint Lite and KashPoint Express brands, plus a forthcoming PK Pay mobile platform. The company aims to let consumers access financial services and merchants participate in digital and loyalty-driven commerce. The Bitcoin Depot bankruptcy was disclosed in May when the operator declared Chapter 7 and began liquidating assets.
The $100 million commitment from Hawk Capital Advisors is structured to give PointsKash runway through the first half of 2026, provided it meets operational targets around kiosk deployment, merchant sign-ups and mobile platform milestones. The first $35 million tranche is already available through Oct. 30 for immediate priorities like kiosk installation, software integration and merchant onboarding.
For Hawk Capital, the bet is that PointsKash can convert the 2,100+ kiosks acquired from Bitcoin Depot into a two-way payments network rather than just a Bitcoin vending machine fleet. The company's KashPoint kiosks are designed to handle both fiat-to-crypto conversions and loyalty rewards redemption, which could give it a wider use case than the Bitcoin Depot machines they replaced.
The second $65 million tranche, if triggered, would fund expansion from February through April. That capital would likely go toward scaling the PK Pay mobile platform and adding more enterprise merchant partners, according to the company's release. PointsKash said it expects the combination of physical kiosks and mobile payments to create a distribution network that traditional banks and card networks do not currently reach.
