Kraken Desktop Adds Volume Profile Tools for Structural Analysis

Kraken said July 7 that four native volume profile indicators are now live on Kraken Desktop, bringing structural market analysis directly into its trading workstation. The tools include Volume Profile Visible Range, Volume Profile Fixed Range, Anchored Volume Profile and Session Volume Profile, giving traders a clearer view of where markets actually traded.

Volume profile tools map trading activity across price levels, showing where the bulk of volume concentrated during a session or a specific period. That data helps traders identify support and resistance zones based on actual execution, not just price action. The Visible Range indicator covers the full chart window, while the Fixed Range version lets users define a custom time frame. Anchored Volume Profile starts from a specific point – a breakout, a news event, a session open – and Session Volume Profile isolates a single trading day.

Kraken Desktop is the exchange's dedicated trading platform, separate from its web interface and mobile app. The addition of these indicators puts it closer to what professional traders expect from platforms like TradingView or NinjaTrader, where volume profile is a standard tool. Kraken has been adding desktop-specific features since the platform launched in 2023, including hotkeys, multi-window support and order-flow tools.

The exchange did not say whether the indicators would roll out to its web or mobile clients. For now, the tools are exclusive to the desktop client, which runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Volume profile analysis is common among futures and forex traders but less standard in spot crypto markets, where order-book data is often shallow or fragmented across exchanges. Kraken's move could appeal to traders who already use the technique on other asset classes and want the same framework for crypto. The indicators are available immediately to all Kraken Desktop users at no additional cost.
