Ava Labs exec John Nahas says crypto is in a 'pubescent teenage phase' but he's never been more bullish. Bitcoin climbs above $77k as Avalanche pivots to enterprise.
John Nahas, chief business officer at Ava Labs, told the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2026 that he has never been more bullish on crypto despite the current bearish phase. He called the market a “pubescent teenage phase” full of acne and uncertainty.
“We’re full of acne and we don’t know what we’re doing,” Nahas said. The metaphor was not pessimistic. He said he had never seen so many opportunities in the sector nor such a promising influx of talent.
Bitcoin traded above $77,000, up more than 8% over the past 24 hours. Ethereum changed hands above $2,400, a 6% gain. The price recovery comes as Nahas outlined a different path for Avalanche.
“What we have been focusing on has not been the traditional crypto cycles,” he explained. “They have always been narratives, six-month speculative cycles that come and go.”
Avalanche’s strategic pillars include enterprise payments, government adoption, digital identity and ticketing for the World Cup. Nahas said the network’s ability to deploy customized Layer 1 blockchains tailored to specific jurisdictions and assets is a competitive advantage. “The technology adapts to the business,” he said.
Alongside the speech, Ava Labs announced a leadership reorganization. John Wu, president for seven years, will move to a senior advisory role. Charley Cooper, formerly chief operating officer, will become president while keeping his COO duties.
Nahas said he has never been more bullish. The market data and the company’s focus on real-world use cases support that view, at least from his vantage point.
