CyberLeek hacker demands 400 Monero for ad spots on the next GTA 6 leak stream as Take-Two shares slip 2.20% and Rockstar's Extended Look nears.
The individual or group behind the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks is demanding 400 Monero (XMR) just to make contact. The payment, roughly $168,860 at press time on Aug. 24, buys a personalized ad spot during the next leak stream, according to the hacker known as CyberLeek.
The demand follows Take-Two Interactive's subpoenas to Discord and Microsoft as part of the hunt for the leaker. CyberLeek said interested parties should reach them through the privacy messaging app Session, then pay the 400 XMR. They said they will not help market scams. Gambling and pornography are acceptable.
The Monero scheme is not the first crypto angle in the saga. CyberLeek has used the streams to promote a meme coin also called CyberLeek (CYBERLEEK). The token is up nearly 39,000% in the last week, and recent streams claimed that the higher its market capitalization goes, the more GTA 6 footage will be released. There has been no clear reaction in Monero's price to the scheme.
The hacker has framed the operation as a protest against the gaming industry's anti-consumer practices, citing rising prices despite digital distribution and anti-piracy measures that hurt legitimate buyers. According to GTA6 leakers, the meme coin and the Monero marketing scheme are meant to fund an unspecified future project, implied as part of a wider series of attacks on the industry. Most observers and gamers remain skeptical.
Stop Killing Games, an initiative formed to combat the same practices, pushed back on X. The group urged followers not to send money:
Take-Two's stock has held up despite the leaks. TTWO shares fell 2.20% in the last week to close at $239.62. They remain up 3.44% over the last 30 days. The stock is down 4.76% in 2026. It has largely kept the uptrend that started in late March.
On AlphaScala's scorecard, Take-Two Interactive sits at 33/100 (Weak) and Microsoft at 71/100 (Moderate), with Microsoft shares at $483.24, up 0.43% today.
