Gold extended its climb toward $4,400 per ounce as softer US economic data clouded the outlook for further Federal Reserve rate hikes, according to the latest episode of the World Gold Council's "Unearthed" podcast.

In currencies, the Australian dollar was buying US$0.716. Iron ore rose 0.05% to $95.21 a tonne in Singapore, Brent crude gained 0.65% to $94.39 per barrel, and US natural gas futures were up 1.46% to $2.7730 per gigajoule.
