Glacier Fresh invested $1.5 million in a water testing lab and launched a "Verified by Science" initiative to back filter claims with data, CEO William Wu said.
Glacier Fresh, a water filtration company, announced Monday the launch of its "Verified by Science" initiative, supported by a $1.5 million investment in an advanced water testing laboratory. The program aims to validate product performance through continuous testing rather than relying on marketing claims alone.
Consumer concerns about drinking water contaminants such as PFAS and lead have grown in recent years. William Wu, chief executive of Glacier Fresh, said the initiative was built around the idea that "consumers deserve more than promises – they deserve proof."
The new laboratory allows the company to run its own analytical evaluations for filtration performance, material safety, and contaminant reduction. Glacier Fresh said it views scientific validation as a continuous process that begins during product development and continues after products reach the market.
Wu outlined five principles underlying the program: product performance should be supported by measurable data before marketing messages are communicated; validation should occur throughout the product lifecycle; consumers deserve visibility into how products are tested; innovation must be backed by rigorous analysis; and every research effort should contribute to safer drinking water.
Glacier Fresh said it will expand the initiative with future research programs, educational resources, and communication efforts. The company's current product line includes refrigerator filters, countertop systems, under-sink filters, reverse osmosis units, and whole-house treatment solutions.
