Chery Group showed the FREELANDER 8 at the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum in Shanghai last month. The event drew government representatives, business leaders, and potential partners. Among the vehicle's features, the Super Intelligent Valet Parking system stood out.

SIVP lets drivers leave the vehicle at a drop-off point. The car then searches for a spot and parks itself. When ready to leave, users summon it through a mobile app. The system is designed for the Middle East, where summer heat makes walking across parking lots uncomfortable.
The FREELANDER 8 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip for its intelligent cockpit. SIVP extends that computing power into parking and retrieval. Mao described the feature as part of the brand's Smart Confidence experience.
FREELANDER is a joint venture between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover. JLR handles design and premium branding; Chery brings technology and supply chain. The brand plans to enter more than 90 countries and set up over 1,100 sales points within five years, starting with the Middle East.
The SIVP feature generated interest from attendees at the forum, according to the company.
