First Energy Africa Oil Corp. appointed Simon Akit and Frederick Kozak to its board of directors, effective July 13. The Calgary-based explorer, which is privately held, targets exploration and block acquisitions in sub-Saharan Africa.
Akit brings more than 25 years of experience in Canadian and U.S. capital markets, having raised over $5 billion in equity and debt for resource companies from institutional investors across North America, Europe, and Asia. He holds an MBA from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and is a Professional Engineer with APEGA. Kozak, a former Canaccord Genuity oil and gas research analyst, has more than 40 years of experience in the resource and capital markets sector, with a focus on Africa and South America. He holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a Professional Engineer with Lifetime status in Alberta.
The appointments add engineering and financing expertise to a board focused on early-stage African oil projects.
