EPFO's new Service History feature on the Unified Member Portal lets members view all employment and PF records linked to their UAN, helping catch missing accounts before claims.
Employees who switch jobs multiple times often discover a missing provident fund account only when they file a withdrawal or pension claim. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has rolled out a digital tool to catch those gaps earlier.
The Service History feature, part of the revamped EPFO 2.01 Unified Member Portal, gives members a consolidated view of all employment and provident fund records linked to their Universal Account Number. It shows previous and current employers, dates of joining and exit, and the corresponding EPF and EPS membership history.
The upgrade follows EPFO's move to enable automatic PF transfers for Aadhaar-linked UANs. That change eliminated the need for members to submit separate transfer requests when changing jobs.
Members can access the feature by logging into the EPFO Unified Member Portal with their UAN and password, completing OTP authentication, and selecting the Service History section. Records can be downloaded for future reference.
Having all employment records in one place makes it easier to verify career history, spot missing service periods or incorrect details, and seek corrections before filing PF withdrawal or pension claims. The feature also supports onboarding with a new employer by providing an authenticated employment record.
The Service History feature complements E-PRAAPTI, a platform EPFO launched in April 2026 to help members trace forgotten EPF accounts. Using Aadhaar-based authentication or a member ID, subscribers can locate old accounts, reactivate them where required, and link them to their UAN.
PF accounts typically become inactive when employees leave a job without transferring their balance to a new employer or withdrawing the accumulated amount. Inoperative accounts continue to earn interest until the member reaches 58 years of age, subject to EPFO rules. Inactive accounts can still lead to delays in claim settlement, difficulty reconciling past contributions, and gaps in service records.
EPFO advises members to periodically review their UAN-linked records, transfer PF balances after changing jobs, and keep their KYC details updated. The new Service History feature, automatic PF transfers, and the E-PRAAPTI platform are part of EPFO's broader push to digitize records and reduce claim delays.
