Conifex Timber secured bridge financing from its existing lender while government funding for the Mackenzie restart remains uncertain. Q2 earnings due Aug. 14.
Conifex Timber (TSX: CFF) has secured additional bridge financing from its existing lumber lender while it waits on government funding to restart its sawmill, planer, and power operations in Mackenzie, British Columbia.
The company said the restart has taken longer than it expected. The delay stems from the time needed to advance government financing processes, plus the shift from Conifex's traditional northern summer log harvest to a southern truck-haul program whose timing depends on weather and other operational factors.
Conifex plans to release second-quarter results before the market opens on Aug. 14, 2026, and will hold a conference call at 9 a.m. Pacific time that day.
President and COO Andrew McLellan acknowledged the extended downtime in a statement. "We recognize the impact this extended downtime has meant for our employees, the community of Mackenzie, local First Nations and our other stakeholders, and we appreciate their continued patience and support," he said. The bridge financing "provides important financial support while we continue to advance the government financing initiatives," McLellan added.
Conifex did not say when the restart might happen. It said there is no guarantee additional government financing will come through on acceptable terms, or at all.
The company's operations include timber harvesting, sawmilling, and a bioenergy power plant at Mackenzie. It sells lumber into the U.S., Canada, and Japan.
