MoonPay enables instant crypto purchases from Cash App balances with one tap. The integration taps 77% consumer preference for crypto access through existing apps.
MoonPay now lets U.S. customers fund crypto purchases directly from their Cash App balance, the company said Tuesday. The integration means tens of millions of Cash App users can buy digital assets without leaving the MoonPay checkout flow or re-authenticating. It's the first time Cash App Pay has been offered for crypto purchases on an external platform, MoonPay said.
"Cash App is where tens of millions of Americans already manage their money," MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright said in a statement. "This integration means that those users can access the digital asset ecosystem, funded instantly from an app they already know and trust."
The setup works through Cash App Pay, which links a customer's Cash App account to the MoonPay buy flow. Purchases complete with one tap, MoonPay said. The payment option is also live on MoonPay's partner network, including Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Ledger, BitPay, Uniswap and others.
MoonPay argued its regulatory depth underpins trust in the integration. The company holds a BitLicense and a New York Limited Purpose Trust Company Charter from the New York Department of Financial Services, plus MiCA authorization in the EU and registrations in the U.K., Australia and Canada.
Morgan Kuntze, Global Partnerships lead at Block, Cash App's parent, said the company wants to give customers "choice and flexibility wherever and however they choose to pay." Kuntze added that bitcoin remains at the core of Cash App's digital asset strategy.
A PYMNTS Intelligence report published in July found that 77% of consumers would open a crypto or stablecoin wallet through an existing banking or FinTech app. The report suggested that familiar apps could provide the front door for digital asset adoption. MoonPay's integration with Cash App is a direct implementation of that pattern: a payment method millions already use, now connected to crypto without requiring a separate wallet or funding step.
