BTSE's Indonesian exchange, formed via the NVX transformation, receives OJK approval for rupiah deposits and trading. Local management handles customer acquisition and partnerships.
BTSE has launched a licensed cryptocurrency platform in Indonesia, formed through the transformation of NVX, a locally authorized digital asset exchange. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) approved the operation, permitting BTSE Indonesia to offer rupiah deposits, withdrawals, and IDR-denominated trading pairs, the company said.
The exchange operates as a joint venture between BTSE Group and PT Aset Kripto Internasional. BTSE Group provides the core trading technology, market liquidity, and operational infrastructure. Indonesian management handles customer acquisition, partnerships, and promotional efforts, BTSE said.
The OJK authorization positions BTSE Indonesia as a Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator, a license category that requires compliance with anti-money laundering rules and operational transparency standards. The platform can work with domestic banks and payment processors for fiat on-ramps.
Indonesia has tightened oversight of digital assets in recent months. In June, OJK published Regulation No. 6 of 2026, setting new advertising standards for crypto services. The rules require influencers to obtain competency certification before endorsing digital assets, though existing professional credentials may qualify. Promotions are restricted to tokens listed on approved trading platforms.
BTSE said the regulatory environment influenced its decision to enter Indonesia through a licensed local entity rather than operating cross-border. The NVX acquisition and rebranding gave BTSE a ready-made compliance structure, avoiding the need to apply for a new license from scratch. The company did not disclose financial terms of the deal.
The exchange may expand into derivatives and other products subject to further OJK approval, BTSE said. Any new offerings would need to follow the regulator's guidelines for digital asset trading operators.
