Amaroq appoints Sigurbjorn Thorkelsson as chairman, adds three independent directors as it prepares to uplist to London Stock Exchange's main market.
Amaroq, the Greenland-focused mine developer, is reshuffling its board as it prepares to list on the London Stock Exchange’s main market. The company announced Monday that Sigurbjorn Thorkelsson will take over as non-executive chairman from Graham Stewart, who held the role for seven years. Stewart will stay on as an independent non-executive director.
The changes take effect when Amaroq’s shares start trading on the FCA’s official list and the LSE main market, expected no earlier than July 31. The company also appointed three new independent non-executive directors: Annette Brøndholt, Jorunn Johanne Sætre and Teitur Poulsen. Sætre will serve as senior independent director.
Stewart said in a statement that the new directors bring “combined senior experience across mining, finance, energy, governance and international business” that will support the company as it moves to the main market. He thanked David Neuhauser, the non-independent director who stepped down Monday after four years on the board, calling him “one of the building blocks of making Amaroq what it is today.” Neuhauser will continue as a senior adviser and shareholder.
Brøndholt has more than 25 years of international leadership across aviation, fashion, technology and investment sectors. Sætre spent over 40 years in oil and gas, including senior roles at Halliburton and board seats at Longboat Energy and Faroe Petroleum. Poulsen is CFO of Lundin Mining and previously held the same role at Lundin Energy and Aker BP.
Thorkelsson, currently an independent non-executive director, said he was “honoured to be taking on the role of Chairman at such an important stage in Amaroq’s development.” He praised Stewart’s leadership in establishing the company’s strategic direction.
Amaroq holds a 100% interest in the Nalunaq gold mine in southern Greenland and has a portfolio of gold and strategic metal assets in the region, including advanced exploration at Stendalen and the Sava Copper Belt. The company is incorporated under Ontario’s Business Corporations Act and wholly owns Nalunaq A/S.
