Alsobrooks Calls White House Crypto Enforcement Plan 'Unserious'

Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) rejected the White House's proposal to enforce the Clarity Act's ethics rules only through the Department of Justice. She called the plan an "unserious offer" and said she would not support the bill if that remains the sole enforcement option.

The Clarity Act is the main U.S. market structure bill for crypto. It has stalled because lawmakers disagree on how to enforce ethics provisions. Alsobrooks' opposition is the latest sign that the enforcement disagreement remains a barrier to a Senate floor vote.

No floor vote has been scheduled. The White House has not responded to Alsobrooks' criticism.
