Airbnb Executive's X Account Hacked in Crypto Scam Post

An unnamed Airbnb executive director confirmed a security breach on their verified X account. The hacker used the account to push fake posts about crypto tokenization, according to a statement the company released Tuesday.

Automated content detection tool Pangram flagged the fraudulent posts as text generated entirely through artificial intelligence systems. The posts promoted a fictional tokenization initiative tied to Airbnb's business, the company said.

The breach adds to a growing list of high-profile X account hacks used to spread crypto-related scams. Airbnb said it has secured the account and is working with X to investigate the incident. The company advised users not to engage with any posts from the account during the compromised period.

X did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
